Electrician III - Maintenance - Full Time

About the Job:

Support the operations, maintenance, and construction of buildings by installing, operating, and maintaining all non-clinical electrical equipment, all electrical distribution systems, and the emergency power systems. The Electrician III will mentor apprentice and journeyman Electricians.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all non-clinical equipment. Maintain a file of all non-clinical equipment purchased by the facility and perform scheduled maintenance on the equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on the electrical distribution system. Reset and replace electrical breakers and fuses, maintain breaker boxes, install disconnects and install electrical receptacles.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on the emergency generator and electrical switchgear including maintaining emergency panels and installing the red emergency outlets.
  • Create and complete work orders in an appropriate timeframe.
  • Firestop penetrations and passageways.
  • Perform casualty-prevention electrical sweeps throughout the facility and replace faulty circuit breakers, receptacles, and equipment.
  • Maintain an inventory of fuses, breakers, receptacles, wiring and other mission critical electrical consumables in the event of emergency situations.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment through the Facilities Management department.
  • Inspect and test electrical lighting, signal, communication and power circuits and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment.
  • Examine and test various system elements including distribution panel, controls, circuit fixtures and motors to locate obvious faults. Repair electrical circuits and equipment.
  • Replace faulty elements of electrical systems.
  • Dismantle electrical machinery and unsolders or unscrews wiring connections. Replace defective mechanical parts and related electrical parts and assembles components according to diagrams. Restore electrical connections to complete circuits.
  • Install new wiring, including low tension and electrical machinery, in accordance with all state and local codes.
  • Maintain electrical schedules and blueprints for the entire facility. Assist the supervisor with indexing electrical equipment.
  • Research and report required shutdowns for repair or replacement or circuits or components.
  • Assist vendors with scheduled maintenance or repair, when necessary.
  • Create and complete work orders, as assigned and within an appropriate timeframe.
  • Provide oversight of light electrical improvement projects and repairs.
  • Responsible for inventory and verification of proper installation and operation of vendor installed equipment.
  • Maintain records for compliance of regulated equipment.
  • Work with supervisor to identify and request equipment or infrastructure for capital improvements.
  • Provide oversight of large-scale electrical improvement projects and repairs in conjunction with immediate supervisor.
  • Mentor and develop Electrician I and Electrician II.
  • Ensure confidentiality of employee, legal, client/patient, budget, and all company matters.
  • Maintain clean and safe working conditions.
  • Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Mentor apprentice and journeyman Electricians.
  • Ability to be on-call and work weekends and evenings to support operational and maintenance requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary vocational courses preferred.
  • Licensure/certification: New Hampshire Master Electrician license required. A valid driver’s license must be maintained throughout duration of employment in the position.
  • Experience: A minimum of six (6) yeas of general electrical work experience, of which included an electrician apprenticeship, required. Prior leadership experience preferred.
  • Skills: General computer skills required.

  • Ability to become familiar with safety features and devices of all plant equipment.
  • Ability to transport self to and from off-site locations.
  • Ability to safely use power tools as necessary.
  • Ability to read and understand SDS sheet.
