We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Assistant to join our practice. This role involves a variety of clinical and administrative responsibilities to support the providers, maintain patient care, and ensure smooth practice operations. The ideal candidate will be an organized, detail-oriented individual who is passionate about supporting both patients and clinical staff in a behavioral health setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with Refill Requests: Manage and process medication refill requests as per provider instructions, ensuring all protocols are followed.
- Urine Toxicology (Utox) Testing: Administer and manage urine drug screenings in accordance with clinical policies and assist with documentation.
- Controlled Substance Agreements: Ensure that patients complete and sign-controlled substance agreements as needed and maintain accurate records.
- Provider Support: Work closely with healthcare providers to assist with patient care requests, including preparing patients for appointments, obtaining necessary clinical information, and updating records.
- Fax Orders and Lab Requests: Prepare, fax, and track orders for lab tests, imaging, and referrals per provider instructions.
- Vitals and Clinical Support: Take and record patient vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate, temperature), update medical records, and provide support for clinical procedures as needed.
- Cross-coverage for Front Desk: Provide assistance with front desk duties, including patient check-in, scheduling, and answering calls as needed, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Attend Meetings: Participate in staff meetings, training, and other necessary meetings to support practice initiatives and ongoing professional development.
- Monitor AED and Medication Logs: Ensure that the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and medication logs are properly maintained and up to date.
Education/Experience/Licensure
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- Experience: One (1) to three (3) years medical assistant experience, preferably in an outpatient behavioral health or psychiatric setting.
- Certification/Licensure: must possess BLS within first 90 days of employment. Certification or registration (CMA, RMA or ABRE-OE) by AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT is required.
- Software/Hardware: Computer/EMR experience preferred.
