Who We Are:
The Intensive Care Unit is a 16-bed unit with an average census of 12 patients. We are comprised of roughly 60 employees with Nurse-to-Patient Ratios of 1:1 (1:1 nursing/patient ratios including but not limited to CRRT, Balloon pump/impella, immediate post-op cardiac surgery, multisystem trauma, massive transfusion, triple vasopressors, and prone therapy) with 1 LNA and a secretary on days and 1 LNA on nights. The typical patient population consists of adults 17 & older with the following conditions: trauma, respiratory, surgical, neuro, sepsis, ARDS, pulmonary, and cardiovascular.
About the Job:
The Resource Nurse (RRN) directly oversees and serves as an immediate, first line clinical resource to staff on the floor of the ICU. The RRN will demonstrates well developed clinical competencies appropriate to the ICU when providing direct patient care or guiding staff. The position will function as an integral member of the ICU team and will work to ensure operations of unit on assigned shift are running efficiently. The RRN will adhere to the values under the EHS Professional Practice Model which guide all dimensions of practice.
Schedule Details:
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (36 hours/week)
- Meetings:
- Leadership Meetings: Every 2nd Friday of the month, 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
- Resource Meetings: Every last Wednesday of the month, 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM
- Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend
- Holidays: Required to work two designated holidays in the summer and two in the winter
What You’ll Do:
- Participates in professional enhancement activities including membership in hospital-wide committees, health system initiatives, development of education materials, professional association activities
- Provides support and leadership to the ICU team in developing integrated approaches to care including assisting staff with the provision of care to assigned patients and assuming a partial patient assignment
- Works in partnership with and serves as a resource to medical staff for relevant clinical issues
- Collaborates and supports the Clinical Nurse Manager
- Teams up with the Clinical Nurse Manager to effectively control costs through innovative and economical utilization of personnel, materials and equipment
- Supports the department’s Shared Governance structure and is accountable for quality improvement outcomes
Who You Are:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. ASN Required with active enrolled in BSN enrollment in a program (signed BSN commitment form needed). BSN Preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of current experience in an acute care setting required (ICU experience preferred)
- License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of New Hampshire required or must hold a Compact Nursing License
- Life support authorization (BLS) appropriate to patient population required
- Specialty certification required within six (6) months of eligibility
