Elliot Health System’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provide individual and group-based treatment of co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. PHP and IOP are for individuals who need care that is more intensive than individual outpatient programs but not as intensive as residential treatment. Depending on their role, staff can provide case coordination, assist participants in accessing community-based services, provide medication management, evaluate participants for medical issues, and more. The teams coordinate closely with primary care providers on a biweekly basis to ensure that all aspects of patients’ wellbeing and health are addressed appropriately.
About the Job:
Performs billing related duties to support the department for outpatient services not captured within our electronic medical record.
What You’ll Do:
Processes daily charge tickets for all services provided by the department’s providers/staff, and all outpatient services that are not captured within the electronic medical record. Ensures that a department specific account exists, and the appropriate insurance coverage is attached.
Obtains authorization for services rendered in the office. Uses all ICD-9 and CPT coding to ensure correct charging and posting to patient accounts.
Works the Charge Entry Review queues in Epic.
Works the Claim Edit Review queues in Epic.
Keeps Office Manager and Providers informed of revised and/or newly implemented insurance changes that affect billing and reimbursement.
Checks daily department census and ensures that a charge is received for each patient admitted.
Assists in all the Front Desk responsibilities each day which includes, check in, check out, patient calls, scheduling and responding to staff messages.
Reviews DAR to ensure insurance is verified and benefits for each patient seen are loaded.
Who You Are:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Two years billing experience in a physician office setting preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Coding certification preferred.
