About the Elliot Lab
The Elliot Hospital Laboratory is a full-service laboratory offering both Clinical
and Anatomical Pathology testing. The Clinical Laboratory operates 24 hours/day,7 days/week offering both stat and routine testing. The Anatomical Pathologydepartment operates Monday- Friday 7 am to 4 pm.
We conveniently provide services to patients and the community with 5 walk-in labs located in Manchester, Bedford, Hooksett and Londonderry. We also service 60 nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the area.
About The Job
The Laboratory Support Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing the operational, financial, and regulatory functions of laboratory support services. This includes managing phlebotomy sites, specimen receiving, order entry, courier logistics, and compliance across inpatient and outpatient settings. Reporting to the Laboratory Director and working closely with the Technical Operations Manager, this individual is responsible for strategic planning, process optimization, and ensuring the highest standards of service across non-technical laboratory departments.
What You’ll Do
Operational Leadership
• Direct and coordinate all aspects of laboratory support services, ensuring seamless operations that align with organizational goals.
• Oversee daily activities including phlebotomy operations, hospital specimen receiving, order entry, courier logistics, and outpatient lab support.
• Develop and maintain documentation for staff training, orientation, competency assessment, and ongoing proficiency.
Team Management
• Supervise and develop support services staff through effective leadership, performance management, and workforce planning.
• Define job responsibilities in collaboration with Human Resources and actively participate in recruitment, onboarding, and professional development.
• Conduct and review performance evaluations for direct reports, identifying goals and development plans.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
• Partner with Technical Operations leadership to ensure adherence to standards set by CAP, CLIA, and other accrediting/regulatory bodies.
• Maintain up-to-date certifications and ensure all practices meet regulatory requirements across phlebotomy and laboratory support services.
• Participate in inspections and audits and contribute to ongoing quality improvement and corrective action initiatives.
• Development and adherence to laboratory policies.
Strategic and Financial Oversight
• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for all support service areas.
• Analyze and report key performance indicators and operational statistics to inform leadership decision-making.
• Collaborate with the Revenue Integrity, Finance, and IT teams to streamline workflows and optimize financial performance.
• Adherence to cost-effective operations.
Client & Relationship Management
• Work with Business Development & Client Support Specialist as a liaison between laboratory operations and internal/external clients to resolve service issues, improve satisfaction, and maintain high-quality communication.
• Support client education initiatives and provide expertise on lab support services to both internal teams and external partners.
• Manage with the help of other team members: Client travel charges, pricing adjustments and EPIC work queues.
• Act as laboratory liaison with Revenue Integrity regarding client questions.
What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Science, Healthcare Administration or related field -OR- an equivalent combination of experience and education required (with a min education High school diploma or equivalent required).
Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in laboratory support services or clinical lab operations required.
