Orientation period for this role will require min of 2 days a week for 4 weeks to train prior to above per diem coverage scheduling.
Who We Are:
Pathways is our 16-bed adult inpatient behavioral health unit. Elliot Behavioral Health Services is staffed by a team of mental health professionals who tailor both evaluation and treatment services to each individual patient. These patients with persistent mental health illnesses are admitted voluntarily or involuntarily for 5-14 days. Our state-of-the-art units provide a wide array of equipment and patient acuity depending on a nurse’s professional interests, certifications, and experience level.
About the Job
Evaluates, plans and implements specific treatment programs for patients according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy and in collaboration with the health care team in an in-patient hospital environment.
What You’ll Do
- Evaluates the skilled psycho-social occupational therapy needs of the referred patient and develops a written, prioritized Plan of Treatment in collaboration with the patient and/or other members of the health care team.
- Updates treatment plan, re-evaluates patient, and communicates with referrer and other clinicians involved in the patient’s care.
- Designs and implements therapeutic interventions, including group and individual modalities. These may include teaching and enhancing ADL and IADL skills, as well as stress management, communication/assertiveness, leisure skills, therapeutic exercise. Facilitates and encourages creative and personal expression.
- Adapts activities/tasks/routines to accommodate changes in physical, sensory, emotional, and cognitive abilities.
- Provides consultation to patient, family member(s), and other team members on modifications and recommendations for ADL, IADLs and structuring of daily routines.
- Supervises students, aides and other essential personnel in the implementation and revision of the Occupational Therapy Plan of Care.
- Documents evaluations, assessments, screenings, treatment plans, treatments, goals, communications with others, progress notes, aftercare recommendations within electronic medical record.
- Maintains all equipment in good working order, reports malfunctions in a timely manner. Orders supplies and materials with regard to patient safety, patient needs and functional levels and budget considerations.
What You’ll Need
Education: Graduate of an accredited educational program for Occupational Therapy required. Will consider new grads!
Experience: Previous experience preferred, but not required. Aggression de-escalation training approved by EHS.
Certification/Licensure: Licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the state of New Hampshire Occupational Therapy Governing Board required. CPR certification required.
