About the Job
The Patient Service Representative serves as a key member of the front desk and administrative support team within our Rehab/Clinical areas. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while managing patient-facing and clerical operations including registration, scheduling, referrals, documentation, and payment collection.
What You’ll Do
- Greet, direct, and register patients in a professional and compassionate manner
- Answer incoming telephone calls and provide general information
- Schedule appointments and enter, track, and manage referrals
- Collect and accurately process co-payments and daily batches
- Obtain, verify, and update patient demographic and insurance information
- Scan, index, and file documentation within the medical record
- Process insurance requirements and communicate effectively with patients and staff
- Schedule interpreter services, including live interpreters and translation technologies
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality regulations
- Stay current with EPIC upgrades, policies, and procedures
- Participate in process improvement initiatives
- Identify safety concerns and notify appropriate personnel
- Provide back-up support to other administrative staff as needed
- Attend mandatory training and in-services
Who You Are / Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of reception tasks, clinic workflows, and office procedures
- Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Professional demeanor with a caring, customer-service–focused approach
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience
- Understanding of medical terminology
