The Emergency Department of SNHMC provides culturally competent care to the diverse population of Southern New Hampshire with a 30-bed, critical care unit. In addition to supporting the community as a Level III Trauma Center, and Primary Accredited Stroke Facility, the ED has taken proactive steps to provide safe care to our psychiatric population through the implementation of a 6-bed secured intradepartmental unit. With increased patient volumes and higher acuity, the ED is prepared to accommodate additional patients through utilization of hallway beds and a triage fast-track area. We support and take pride in providing numerous educational opportunities for our staff to pursue board certifications and higher education in addition to the advanced technical skills they provide, such as ultrasound guided IV placement and arterial IV line management. Our robust staff of nurses, paramedics, LNAs and Health Unit Coordinators work 12-hour shifts around the clock to provide a continuous higher level of care to our community
About the Job:
In collaboration with the Director of the Emergency Department, the Clinical Nurse Manager assumes 24 hour / 7 days a week responsibility for managing the operations of their assigned unit. The Clinical Nurse Manager assists with the oversight of professional nursing practice to achieve safe, quality patient care as defined by the strategic goals of the medical center. This role serves as a transformational leader and maintains current knowledge to coordinate the delivery of care to the specific patient populations cared for on the Emergency Department. This role effectively manages within a complex environment through collaboration by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies. The Clinical Nurse Manager serves as a role model, promotes adaptation to change, and a positive work environment.
What You’ll Do:
Set team expectations regarding model and delivery of care.
Formulate response to difference in variance reports when requested.
Collaborate with ED Director to prepare annual budget.
Identify and implement unit-based cost reduction strategies.
Identify safety hazards or unsafe practices and takes immediate corrective action.
Conduct routine leadership rounds and provides timely service recovery.
Maintain unit-based compliance with organizational, professional, and regulatory standards.
Create a work environment that supports staff participation in committees, projects, and practice initiatives.
Support staff development and attainment of specialty certification and advanced education.
Who You Are:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (BSN required)
Registered Nurse, licensed in the state of NH
Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing the role of Clinical Manager/Resource Nurse in ED
Certifications: ACLS, TNCC, PALS, BLS, ENPC
Ability to achieve the following competencies:
