Staffed 24/7 by board-certified Obstetricians and Certified Nurse Midwives, our multidisciplinary team—including RNs, LNAs, Health Unit Coordinators, lactation consultants, and pediatric and obstetric providers—delivers compassionate, expert care in a seamless environment that includes a Level II Special Care Nursery with Mass General-affiliated Neonatologists. We promote ongoing education and certification in fetal monitoring, neonatal resuscitation, and obstetric emergency management to ensure safe, personalized care for every family.
About the Job:
As a member of the Patient Care Services team, the Lactation Consultant assesses, develops, and implements a culturally appropriate plan of care to support the breastfeeding patient. This role communicates in an open, positive, and therapeutic manner with patients, their families, and the healthcare team
What You’ll Do:
- Participate in development of breastfeeding handouts, protocols and education for staff and parents. Make appropriate referrals to support the patient’s desire to breastfeed (i.e. breast pump rental or Durable Medical Equipment providers).
- Incorporate age-specific, developmental needs, prevention strategies, and education into plans of care.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to resolve inpatient and outpatient breastfeeding issues.
- Provide outpatient lactation consultations and telephone guidance to families.
- Participate in gathering of statistics, chart reviews or other activities to improve the quality of Lactation Services.
Who You Are:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Current NH licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Must have IBCLC
