About the Job:

As the Executive Director of Security at Southern New Hampshire Health, you will be the strategic and operational leader responsible for protecting the safety and well-being of thousands of employees, patients, and visitors across a complex healthcare system. This role is pivotal in shaping a secure, welcoming, and resilient environment that supports SNHH’s mission of compassionate, high-quality care.

You will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and work in close collaboration with clinical leaders, facilities, IT security, legal/risk, HR, and public safety agencies at all levels. Your leadership will span across multiple campuses, including the main 188-bed medical center and numerous ambulatory and off-site locations throughout southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role where you will:

  • Set and execute the enterprise-wide security and emergency management strategy

  • Lead a multidisciplinary Protective Services team, fostering a culture of service, safety, and psychological security

  • Oversee all aspects of physical security, including surveillance, access control, threat assessment, and workplace violence prevention

  • Serve as the Incident Commander during emergencies and lead preparedness efforts in alignment with FEMA ICS/NIMS standards

  • Drive innovation through the integration of advanced technologies such as AI video analytics, real-time location systems, and weapons detection

  • Develop and manage multimillion-dollar budgets, pursue external funding, and demonstrate ROI through data-driven reporting

  • Represent SNHH in regional emergency preparedness coalitions and public safety partnerships

  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the security team and across the organization

This role is ideal for a visionary leader who can balance vigilance with empathy, drive cultural transformation, and ensure SNHH remains a safe and healing space for all.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead all daily protective services operations across multiple campuses

  • Maintain and exercise the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP)

  • Serve as on-call Incident Commander for all-hazards events

  • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets

  • Produce strategic roadmaps, master plans, and performance dashboards

  • Oversee security technology systems and vendor relationships

  • Launch career pathways and training programs for security staff

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (DNV, CMS, OSHA, etc.)

  • Act as liaison to law enforcement and emergency agencies

  • Chair the Workplace Violence Prevention Committee and Security Steering Council

Who You Are / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, or related field (Master’s preferred)

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive security leadership, including 5 years in acute care or law enforcement/military command

  • Eligible for NH armed-officer status; valid driver’s license required

  • Expert in ICS/NIMS, CPTED, workplace violence prevention, and security technologies

  • Strong communicator with crisis leadership and negotiation skills

  • Proven ability to lead high-performance teams and manage multimillion-dollar budgets

  • Comfortable briefing executive leadership and board members
