About the Job:
The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of Southern New Hampshire Medical Center and its affiliated organizations. Reporting to the Controller, this position is responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and internal policies. The role also supports audits, adapts to evolving technologies, and collaborates with other accounting staff to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
What You’ll Do:
Prepare and enter journal entries; assist with monthly closings.
Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reconciliations for general ledger accounts.
Maintain financial tables and reports to support accurate financial statements.
Record and reconcile daily cash activity for SNHMC.
Receive and validate supporting documentation for accounting functions.
Apply accounting principles to a variety of financial transactions.
Analyze and resolve technical financial issues.
Research data and prepare clear, concise financial reports.
Operate office equipment and software including spreadsheets, databases, and specialized applications.
Adapt to new technologies and systems as needed.
Assist other accounting staff and leadership as required.
Demonstrate the organization’s mission, vision, values, and standards of behavior in all work.
Who You Are / Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
Experience: 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Abilities: Analytical thinking, effective written communication, multitasking, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
